Why Your Boosted Posts Don't Work

The most clicked ads topic for small owners. Everyone in Sussex has pressed that button.

Copy from them

Open on the button itself. Command in the title, red cross on the thumbnail.

Our edge

Live test: £20 boosted against £20 on a proper ad, same video.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a business in Sussex and you've ever pressed that blue Boost button on Instagram or Facebook, this one's for you. I did it this weekend on purpose. I spent twenty quid boosting a post, and twenty quid on a proper ad with the exact same video. One of them got likes. The other one got enquiries. I'll show you both, and what to do instead.

Beats

  • 1What boosting actually does
  • 2The £20 test, side by side
  • 3Why the proper ad won
  • 4When boosting is fine
  • 5What to do instead, five steps
  • 6What a lead should cost
  • 7Set up the series

Instagram trailer caption

I spent £20 boosting a post and £20 on a proper ad. Same video, same area. One got likes and the other got enquiries. The full breakdown is on YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 2 · Fri 13 NovLocal Ads · Part 2 of 4

10 Mistakes Sussex Businesses Make With Local Ads

The standard ads format and the easiest to freeball. Follow up folds in as mistake 9.

Copy from them

One numbered chapter per mistake. Finish on a mistake of your own.

Our edge

The last three happen after the ad. Ads people never talk about those.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a business in Sussex and you've tried Facebook or Instagram ads and thought, that doesn't work for us, this one's for you. I look at local ad accounts every week, and most of the ones that fail are making the same ten mistakes. Nearly all of them are cheap to fix. Number nine costs more than the other nine put together.

Beats

  • 1Boosting instead of ads
  • 2Targeting the whole county
  • 3A video that could be anyone
  • 4Polished but empty
  • 5One ad left running for months
  • 6Sending people to the homepage
  • 7No qualifying question
  • 8Judging it on likes
  • 9Ringing back tomorrow
  • 10Giving up at week two
  • 11Bonus: our own mistake

Instagram trailer caption

Number nine costs local businesses more than the other nine put together, and it's got nothing to do with the ad. All ten are on YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 3 · Fri 20 NovLocal Ads · Part 3 of 4

How to Target Your Ideal Client on Meta in 2026

The biggest proven demand on your list: 210k views on the top reference.

Copy from them

Screen recording all the way through, one setting per chapter, a map on the thumbnail.

Our edge

Settings matter less now. The first line of the video does the targeting.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a business in Sussex and you're trying to get your ads in front of the right people, this one's for you. Most people think targeting means ticking boxes, age, interests, postcode. In 2026 that's maybe a third of it. The rest is what you say in the first three seconds of the video, and I'll show you both halves.

Beats

  • 1Your one sentence
  • 2Location settings
  • 3Age, gender and interests
  • 4The creative is the targeting
  • 5Who's on screen
  • 6The form question
  • 7Retargeting
  • 8Tease part 4

Instagram trailer caption

Most people think targeting is ticking boxes. In 2026 it's mostly the first line of your video. The full walkthrough is on YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 4 · Fri 27 NovLocal Ads · Part 4 of 4 · testimonial

How We Generated a Worthing Builder Over £700,000 of Work

Your testimonial slot. Closes the ads series with the proof.

Copy from them

The money in the title and on the thumbnail, the real campaign on screen.

Our edge

Sam says it on camera, so it isn't you making the claim.

Seven or eight months? Your list says seven, Sam's interview and the file say eight.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

The ACG Case Study VSL script on teleprompter, with Sam's interview cut in.

Beats

  • 1Where ACG were before
  • 2The ads
  • 3The leads
  • 4The follow up
  • 5The numbers
  • 6What Sam would tell other builders

Instagram trailer caption

£9,628 of ads and around £700k of work. Sam from ACG tells the whole story on YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 5 · Fri 4 DecMoney

What Bad Marketing Really Costs (and What to Put Into Ads Instead)

Your two money ideas as one video. Budget is the most asked ads question.

Copy from them

Open on the viewer's own question, real numbers straight away, maths on screen.

Our edge

Budget worked out backwards from what one customer is worth.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a service business in Sussex and you've ever paid for marketing that did nothing, this one's for you. Bad marketing doesn't just cost what you paid for it. It costs the jobs you didn't win while you were paying, and the evenings you spent posting at ten at night. I'll show you the real number, then how much you should actually put into ads, worked out from your own prices.

Beats

  • 1The three costs
  • 2Signs you're paying for bad marketing
  • 3What one customer is worth
  • 4What a lead costs here
  • 5Your budget, backwards
  • 6The starting point
  • 7Where the rest goes

Instagram trailer caption

Bad marketing costs more than the invoice. It's the jobs you didn't win while you were paying for it. The maths is on YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 6 · Fri 11 DecShoot Day · Part 1 of 3

How to Structure a Shoot Day as a Local Service Business Owner

Planning videos do huge numbers. Shows a day with HV without selling it.

Copy from them

A number promise, steps in the order the day runs, something to download.

Our edge

The real HV running order, and the shoot sheet as the free download.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a service business and you're trying to film content around actually doing the work, this one's for you. We plan every client shoot the same way, and one day gets a business about a month of content. I'm going to show you the exact running order, so you can do it yourself, or know what to expect when someone films you.

Beats

  • 1The one page plan
  • 2Talking to camera first
  • 3The three videos to always get
  • 4Set ups by room
  • 5The B roll list
  • 6Testimonials last
  • 7After the day

Instagram trailer caption

One day, about a month of content. This is the running order we use on every shoot. Full video on YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 7 · Fri 18 DecShoot Day · Part 2 of 3

How We Filmed Content for a High End Clinic

The best outlier found: 49k views on a 591 subscriber channel, because it showed results.

Copy from them

The client and the result up front, then the system, then the BTS.

Our edge

A Sussex clinic, BTS you already have, and its results. Aimed at owners, not videographers.

Pick the clinic, get their OK to be named and their result numbers. No result, no video.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a clinic in Sussex and you've been putting off filming because you think it'll be awkward, or your clients won't want to be on camera, this one's for you. This is a full day filming at [clinic], what we filmed, how we kept it comfortable for their clients, and what it did for their bookings afterwards.

Beats

  • 1The brief
  • 2The plan
  • 3The owner to camera
  • 4Filming treatments
  • 5The space
  • 6The testimonial
  • 7The finished content
  • 8The results

Instagram trailer caption

A full day filming at [clinic], and what it did for their bookings. On YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 8 · Fri 25 DecShoot Day · Part 3 of 3

How We Film Content for a Trades Business

Trades are most of your clients. Christmas Day, so schedule it before the break.

Copy from them

Owner to owner, no jargon, a checklist people can take away.

Our edge

What actually converted afterwards: walk rounds and the finished work.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

If you run a building or trades business in Sussex and the thought of a camera on site makes you cringe, this one's for you. This is what a day filming on a real job looks like, what we film first, what we never bother with, and which videos actually brought in the enquiries afterwards. It's not the fancy ones.

Beats

  • 1The plan
  • 2The walk round
  • 3The finished work
  • 4The process
  • 5Hooks to camera
  • 6The homeowner on handover day
  • 7What converted
  • 8What's next

Instagram trailer caption

A full day filming on a building site, and which videos actually brought in enquiries afterwards. On YouTube now, link in bio.

Week 9 · Fri 1 JanPersonal

From Hod Carrier at 14 to Running a Content Agency

Ben allows one personal video. The VSL a week later comes from someone they know.

Copy from them

Open on the before, in the first breath. Chapters by life stage.

Our edge

Nobody else in the challenge has this story.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

I failed school. I couldn't get into uni. I was carrying hods on building sites at 14. Then I got arrested, and that was the moment I realised I was pouring everything I had into the wrong things. Today I run a content agency working with businesses across Sussex. It's New Year's Day, so this one's a bit different.

Beats

  • 1Sites at 14
  • 2The arrest
  • 3Fitness and the PT qualification
  • 4The lightbulb
  • 5Filming mates for free
  • 6Growing it
  • 7Three lessons

Instagram trailer caption

VSL 2.0: The Enquiry Hunter

Filmed. Everyone who watched parts 1 to 9 already knows every piece.

Copy from them

The “watch this if” title, credibility in the first ten seconds.

Our edge

Vision Saunas testimonial Thu 5 Nov. Hard deadline 4 Dec.

Open, beats and caption

Open, word for word

Filmed. Only the testimonial section is left.

Beats

  • 1Vision Saunas on camera
  • 2Holgate's 8k average, 32k secured line
  • 3A challenge clip before each result
  • 4Scheduled before Christmas

Instagram trailer caption

Ten weeks, one system. The full Enquiry Hunter is on YouTube now, link in bio. DM me STRIKE if you want it built for your business.

Pattern

What the winners share

Titles

A command, a number list or money in the title. “Do this instead” and “real numbers” do a lot of work.

Thumbnails

A face, two to four words, one prop from the topic. Red cross on the stop videos, before and after money on the results ones.

First 30 seconds

Sentence one names who it's for or their pain. By second 20 they promise exactly what you get.

Small channel outliers

All case studies with numbers: 33k on 5k subs, 49k on 591, 249k on 20k. Results beat production.
